Description
What will I learn?
This Fabric Screen Printing full day workshop is great for beginners who want to have a go at printing onto fabrics. You will learn the basics of screen printing and how to mix colours using ready made patterned screens. We will be working with simple techniques and my patterned screens so that you can get used to working with the tools and media. It’s a fun and experimental course with plenty of support from me. Course places are limited to 3 people so that you have room to work and access to me to help you get the best possible results. You will leave the day with a selection of fabrics that you could use for sewing projects or mixed media textile work.
Who will I be taught by?
You will be learning from me! Fiona Wilson, studio owner and printmaker. I have been working with screen printing & textiles and teaching for the last 15 years both in my studio and at universities and I love being able to pass on new skills and inspire others. My approach is friendly and relaxed and I believe everyone can be creative.
All materials are provided
All materials and equipment will be provided. I am more than happy for you to bring along your own fabrics too (cotton work best), but there will be plenty to choose from on the day.
The Studio
My studio is based in Leek, Staffordshire. It’s a lovely old building that used to be a Ginger Beer Factory (hence its name) but as a result, it has its quirks, such as fairly steep stairs to access the screen wash-out area.
Who is this workshop suitable for?
This is an introductory course, so good for beginners.
Where is Leek, Staffordshire?
Leek is just on the border of the Staffordshire Moorlands and Derbyshire, just below Buxton. Its a vibrant market town with lots of independent shops, including some fab antique shops and an artisan baker. There is no train station though, the nearest train station is Macclesfield and there are buses from there to Leek. If you fancy making a weekend of it – there is a Premier Inn in Leek and a wide variety of pubs and drinking holes! There are plenty of places to park and free on street parking on and around Leonard Street. Once you have booked your place – I will be in touch with more details for the day.
Cancellations – you can cancel your place up to 4 weeks before the workshop date and I will give you a refund or you can move to a workshop on a later date. After that refunds will only be given if your place can be filled.
